InnoCentive Company invites all creative people all over the world to participate in the Competition "Methods to Monitor Wear in Oil and Gas Production Tubing without Well Intervention" for an award of $18,000 USD. Your job as a competitor is to make a written proposal with the appropriate solutions to find a method for remote online monitoring of the degree of wear of production tubing used during oil and gas well exploitation and give it to the seekers (the companies that need solutions). The proposed technology/approach should not rely on running equipment inside the tubing.

About the Competition:

The oil and gas industry requires specialized materials and equipment for oil and gas production from deep underground reservoirs. In particular, the tubing carrying the oil and gas are subject to aggressive environmental conditions from both chemical and physical agents. Together with hydrocarbons production the stream may contain hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), and solid particles, and are often under conditions of high pressure, high temperature, and high flow rate. These conditions lead to erosion and corrosion of the inside of the production tubing which results in weakening of the tubes. When combined with simultaneous tensile stresses from the tubing’s own weight it leads to eventual tubing failure. The Seeker is looking for a method for remote online monitoring of the degree of wear in production tubing used during oil and gas well production.

Role:

  1. The Competitor should find a method for remote online monitoring of the degree of wear in production tubing used during oil and gas well production. The proposed technology/approach should not rely on running equipment inside the tubing.
  2. The Competitor should deliver a written proposal with the solutions for this theoretical Challenge.

Conditions:

  1. This is a Theoretical Challenge that requires only a written proposal to be submitted.
  2. The Challenge award will be contingent upon theoretical evaluation of the proposal by the Seeker.
  3. To receive an award, the Solvers will not have to transfer their exclusive IP rights to the Seeker. Instead, Solvers will grant to the Seeker a non-exclusive license to practice their solutions.

Benefits:

An award of $18,000 USD will be given to the winner.
