The scholarship was established in 2016 and is maintained by the income of a perpetual endowment fund from a bequest to The University of Queensland in Australia under the will of Paula Ruth Kinnane, who graduated from The University of Queensland in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The Scholarship is to support students enrolling in the Bachelor of Music (Honours) program. The Senate may award two Scholarships in a year on the recommendation of the Head. The value of the Scholarship is $10,000.

Scholarship Value:

Two scholarship will be awarded in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Up to 2 years that is valued $10,000 per year.

Eligibility:

An applicant is eligible for the scholarship if the applicant:

submits an application to audition for the Bachelor of Music (Honours) program to the Head, by the closing date for applications.
will be enrolled full-time in the first year of the program.

Selection of Award:

The Scholarship is awarded to the applicants showing greatest merit as demonstrated by audition.
In ranking applicants, the Head of School will give preference to applicants from a rural or remote region of Queensland or the Northern Territory.

The Scholarship is tenable for four years and paid in two installments each year.
The first payment will be made after the census date in Semester 1 subject to the recipient being enrolled full-time in the program.
The second payment will be made after the census date in semester 2 subject to the recipient:
(a) continuing to be enrolled full-time in the program.
(b) obtaining a GPA of at least 5 in semester 1.
Payments in subsequent years will be made after the census date in each semester subject to the recipient:
(a) continuing to be enrolled full-time in the program.
(b) maintaining a GPA of at least 5 in the program.
