The Simon Lee Foundation Scholarship will enable a gifted and committed commencing student studying ECU Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance - Instrumental to study all facets of historical keyboard performance. In addition to studying a common core of history and theory, the recipient will follow a specialized performance-based curriculum in most likely their chosen area. Whilst it is envisioned that the successful candidates would come from a background in modern piano, they would be required to display a flair for, and/or a keen interest in historically informed performance practice. The Simon Lee Scholar will study under the guidance of an existing core team of experts and will have access to national and international visiting artists of the highest caliber. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. You must have applied to study in full-time WAAPA's Bachelor of Music Classical Performance - Instrumental Course.
  2. You must be a future or current ECU student.
  3. You must have a course application in the ECU system.
  4. To be eligible, the applicant must be one of the following:
  • International student.
  • New Zealand or Australian citizen.
  • Australian permanent humanitarian visa.
  • Australian permanent resident visa.

Selection Criteria:

Selection will be based on your:

  1. Entry audition.
  2. Personal statement.

Benefits:

The scholarship is four years in duration, with each year being worth $20,000. A further $20,000 will be allocated in the final two years, to enable travel to study the European keyboard.
