ATR sponsors the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written promise by legislators and candidates for office that commits them to oppose any effort to increase the federal income taxes on individuals and businesses. Currently, 219 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 39 U.S. Senators have signed the pledge.
Americans for Tax Reform also follows state-level budget and tax fights, working directly with think tanks, grassroots activists and legislators to slow the rapid growth of state government. We also maintain the State Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a commitment made by over 1,000 state legislators to oppose and vote against any effort to raise taxes. 14 governors have also made this commitment to taxpayers in their state.
