Link to Norway Tuition Free Universities and Scholarships for International Students

Norway is becoming a popular study destination among international students. An increasing number of Norwegian universities and university colleges are offering Bachelor’s and Masters programmes in English.  It is one of the few remaining countries in the world where tuition fee is free for everyone including international students.  The Norwegian Government also offers scholarship programs to cover living costs in Norway. says: Norwegian state universities and state university colleges as a rule do not charge tuition fees for international students. However, students will need to pay a semester fee of NOK 300-600 ($50-100) each semester. This is applicable for all levels, including undergraduate studies, Masters programmes and Ph.D. programmes. Note that some state universities and university colleges may have tuition fees for a few specialized programmes. Typically these programmes are at the Masters level.

Most private institutions charge tuition fees for all their programmes and courses. But the fees are usually significantly lower than those of comparable studies in most other countries. Also, foreign students don’t pay higher tuition fees than Norwegian students.

Norwegian Quota Scheme
The Quota Scheme awards scholarships for students from developing countries and countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through the Quota Scheme. The main objective of the Quota Scheme is to contribute to capacity building through education that will benefit the home country of the students when they return.  The scheme normally includes courses taught in English at Masters and Ph.D. level, in addition to certain professional degrees.  Each student receives the same amount of money as a Norwegian student would do in an equivalent educational programme. About 40 per cent of the amount is given as a grant and 60 per cent as a loan. However, the loan portion is waived when the student returns to his/her home country after completing the course of study.

Erasmus+ Scholarship Program in Norway
Erasmus+ offers grants to students from programme and partner countries who wish to pursue Bachelor, Master or PhD studies at a university or university college in Norway as a part of their education.  Each successful student receives a monthly grant between € 250 and € 850. The monthly grant is based on a fixed rate for each country. As an Erasmus student you are exempted from paying fees for tuition, registration, examinations and access to laboratory and library facilities at the host institution.
