Stony Brook University offers a scholarship for two first-year international students, with a vision for enhancing intercultural understanding. 

Qualified Applicants:

  1. First-year, an undergraduate international applicant to Stony Brook University for the fall 2020 semester. An international applicant is an individual who holds citizenship in a country outside the United States and who does not also possess US citizenship or permanent residency.
  2. Demonstrated leadership skills, interests and personal initiative in activities involving leadership, intercultural learning, and plans to apply these at Stony Brook University.
  3. Selected awardees will be required to pay their enrollment deposit at Stony Brook University by May 1, 2020, and enroll at a full-time level at Stony Brook in the fall 2020 semester.

Required Documents:

  1. Academic transcripts.
  2. TOEFL (Internet-based) Minimum score of 80, or SAT (New Exam) Minimum socre of 480.
  3. 500-1000 word essay or a two-to-five minute video, telling the university about applicant's leadership skills in school or community, and how the applicant plans to continue applying their leadership skills at Stony Brook University.

Funding:

Awardees will be offered an annual, renewable scholarship to cover 50% of their tuition (currently $12,370 USD per year).

The State University of New York at Stony Brook, commonly referred to as Stony Brook University (SBU), is a public sea-grant and space-grant research university in Stony Brook, New York. It is one of four university centers of the State University of New York system.

The institution was founded 62 years ago in 1957 in Oyster Bay as State University College on Long Island, and moved to Stony Brook in 1962. The university has expanded to include approximately 220 major buildings with a combined area of more than 12.2 million gross square feet.
