Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute is offering the "World Journalist Fellowship" for international journalists who want to apply and study in New York, USA. This Fellowship provides support to international journalists who want to enroll in one of the graduate programs in journalism at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. 

Available Areas:

  1. Business and Economic Reporting.
  2. Cultural Reporting and Criticism.
  3. Global and Joint Program Studies.
  4. Literary Reportage.
  5. Magazine and Digital Storytelling.
  6. News and Documentary.
  7. Reporting the Nation and New York.
  8. Science, Health and Environmental Reporting.
  9. Studio 20: Digital First.

Benefits:

  1. The Fellowship covers tuition expenses and registration fees for two of the three or four semesters of the program.
  2.  The fellow will also receive a stipend of approximately $14,000 for each of the two semesters of the fellowship.

Requirements:

Candidates must:

  1. Hold a non-U.S. passport
  2. Be fluent in English and at least one additional language
  3. Currently be an independent journalist or a journalist working for an independent news organization (corporate or institutional communications does not qualify).
  4. Have a minimum of four years’ experience at a print or electronic journalism publication by the start of the first day of the program. A combination of freelance journalism assignments equal to at least four years of full-time work will be considered. Internships and work for student publications do not count toward the four-year requirement. Public Relations and corporate communications experience do not qualify.
  5. Possess a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year undergraduate degree plus one year of graduate work.
  6. Complete applications for both the fellowship and for admission to the M.A. program in Journalism.
  7. TOEFL: take the TOEFL or IELTS. The TOEFL is waived only if English was an applicant’s language of instruction in his or her degree program.
  8. GRE: some graduate concentrations require the GRE and some make it optional. Check the list below:
