Google is offering an internship opportunity in user experience design in the summer of 2020 in the United States. The job of a Designer is to envision how people experience products of the company and bring that vision to life in a way that feels inspired, refined and even magical. He will address complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use solutions for billions of people around the world—from the first-time user to the sophisticated expert. Achieving this goal requires collaboration with teams of other Designers, Researchers, Engineers and Product Managers throughout the design process. At each stage, he will anticipate what users need, advocate for them and ensure that the final product surprises and delights them.

Minimum qualifications:

Currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in graphic design, human-computer interaction, computer science, or a related field.
Experience with design tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Principle, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Quartz Composer, Framer Studio).
A design portfolio demonstrating design principles for web and/or mobile platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

Currently pursuing a Master's degree in graphic design, human-computer interaction, computer science, or a related field and returning to a degree program after the internship ends.
Demonstrated design background in fundamentals along with relevant internships, work experience, or personal projects outside the classroom in interaction design, visual design, or motion design.
Effective analytical, creative, and visual thinker with excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:

Perform responsibilities that vary by project area.
Produce and test interaction flows and mocks, using research to accurately communicate product functionality to the team.
Understand web and/or mobile environments such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android UI, and iOS UI, to further enhance the overall experience.
Produce designs that reflect a visual design language or brand guidelines.
Understand the typography, color, grid, and composition. Demonstrate best practices for production considerations and methods.
Execute a range of styles with a consistent, aesthetic personality/voice.
Create motion studies for enhancing usability, interaction, storytelling, and delight.
Work with partners and product managers to ideate and define, with engineering to integrate explorations into product experiences, and with research to inform user experiences.
