Candidates are invited to apply for the Rotary Peace Fellowship 2021-2022. Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the fellows into experienced and effective catalysts for peace.
The Rotary Peace Fellowship covers tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses. The Rotary Scholarship is available for candidates from all nationalities to get a Professional development certificate or a Master’s degree program at partner institutions.
Since the program began in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,300 fellows who now work in more than 115 countries. Many of them now serve as leaders at international organizations or have started their own foundations.
Fields of study: Available programmes at host institutions.
Number of awards: Each year, The Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 80 for certificate studies at premier universities.
Duration: up to two years for Master’s degree programme and the normal duration for certificate programmes.
Target group: Open to all nationalities.

Rotary Peace Fellowship Eligibility
The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for leaders with work experience in peace and development. Rotary’s fellows are committed to community and international service and the pursuit of peace.
Candidates must also meet the following requirements:
Proficiency in English, with proficiency in a second language strongly recommended
Strong commitment to international understanding and peace as demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service
Excellent leadership skills
For master’s degree candidates, a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience
For certificate candidates, at least five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience
Employees of a Rotary club or district, Rotary International, or other Rotary entity, Active Rotary members and their relatives (Spouses, children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption, spouses of lineal descendants, parents or grandparents by blood) are not eligible;
Former Rotary members and their relatives as described above (within 36 months of their resignation) are not eligible.
Rotary Peace Fellowship Application instructions
Follow these steps to ensure that your application receives consideration.
Review the eligibility criteria
Find programmes at host institutions. You will be asked to rank two centers you prefer or the Master’s program and one center for the certificate program.
Submit your application by 31 May. Applications require a resume, academic and/or professional recommendations, essays, transcripts, social impact plan (certificate only), and test scores (master’s only). All materials must be in English.
Get endorsed. You need to connect with a Rotary district and get endorsed. You can identify and contact your local Rotary district directly through the application platform. The district will interview you then submit an endorsement decision for your application.
Engage with Rotary. Use the Club Finder to locate the Rotary club nearest you. Connecting with a club is a great way to learn about Rotary’s work in your community and around the world. Clubs recommendations are optional, but strongly recommended as part of your application.
Await selection results. Email notifications will be sent in November. If you are chosen for a fellowship, you will be told at which Peace Center you will study.
Apply for admission to the university where your Peace Center is located. Being selected for the fellowship does not mean you have been admitted to the university.
