The United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries calls candidates to undertake an internship in the Program Management field in Gebze, Turkey. This internship, suitable for undergraduated and graduated students, is for a period of two months commencing as soon as possible, with an opportunity for extension up to a maximum of six months depending on the needs of the Technology Bank. Moreover,it will be unpaid and fulltime where interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the TBLDCs.
The technology Bank, which became operational in 2018, aims to strengthen the knowledge capacity of the 47 least developed countries and is dedicated to strengthening the least developed coutries by promoting science, technology and innovation for sustainable development.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, the intern’s assigned programme as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
•Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations etc.
•Attend and summarize conferences and meetings.
•Support organization of meetings and conferences, side events to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners.
•Assist in data collection of science, technology and innovation practices.
•Conduct research and provide analysis on science, technology and innovation and sustainable development issues.
•Support research on technology needs assessments and related topics.
•Assist in maintaining databases.
•Support the review of key publications.
•Assist in preparing training and learning events and other capacity building initiatives for science, technology and innovation.
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Program Management Internship Programme in Turkey, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a)be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b)be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
c)have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Work Experience :
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the Programme.
Languages :
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of a second United Nations official language is an asset.
