St. John’s University in the United States will offer merit-based scholarships to first-year graduate students who enroll in specified St. John’s graduate level master's degree programs starting with the Fall 2020 term. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Scholarships are awarded based on the student’s academic ability, college, and program of study. Changes in college, program, and/or term may impact scholarship eligibility.
  • Full-time students who are awarded the scholarship must take a minimum of nine credits per fall and spring semesters. Part-time students must take a minimum of six credits per fall and spring semester to be considered eligible. International students must take a minimum of nine credits per fall and spring semester for eligibility.

Eligible Programs:

Merit scholarship consideration will be given for applicants to the following graduate programs:

  • Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • Public Health.
  • Toxicology.
  • Data Science.
  • International Communication.
  • Sport Management.
  • Biotechnology.
  • Applied and Computational Math.
  • Biology.
  • Chemistry.
  • Criminology and Justice.
  • East Asian Studies.
  • Government and Politics.
  • History.
  • Museum Administration.
  • School Psychology.
  • Sociology.
  • Theology.
  • Actuarial Science, M.S.*
  • Enterprise Risk Management, M.B.A.*
  • Enterprise Risk Management, M.S.*
  • Risk Management and Insurance, M.B.A.*
  • Risk Management and Risk Analytics, M.S.*
  • Risk and Financial Advisory, M.S.
  • Taxation, M.S.

Award Amount:

Awards range from $2,500 to $6,500 per academic year depending on college, program, number of credits taken, and academic standing, though those noted with an asterisk (*) above range up to full tuition.

The Scholarship is renewable for up to three years of continuous graduate study in the same college and academic program for which the scholarship was originally awarded. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. The University will review the academic progress of students receiving the scholarship each year. Students are no longer eligible for the scholarship if their cumulative GPA drops below the required 3.0.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Scholarships are not applicable to winter session, post-session, or summer sessions.
  • Scholarship recipients may not receive any other form of institutionally funded assistance, including teaching, research, and graduate assistantships; tuition remission benefits; and any other college-specific aid.
  • The University reserves the right to adjust any University grant or scholarship due to receipt of non-university aid. In addition, the combination of external grants and scholarships (funded by state, federal, and/or private sources) along with financial assistance from St. John’s, may not exceed the cost of full tuition.

About St. John's University:

St. John's University is a private Roman Catholic university in New York City. Founded in 1870 and operated by the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentian Fathers), the school was originally located in the neighborhood of Bedford–Stuyvesant in the borough of Brooklyn. In the 1950s, the school was relocated to its current site at Utopia Parkway in Hillcrest, Queens. St. John's has additional New York City campuses in Staten Island and Manhattan, as well as the Long Island Graduate Center in Hauppauge, New York. Additionally, the university has international campuses located in Rome, Italy, Paris, France, and Limerick, Ireland. St. John's remains deeply Catholic much of the administration is led by priests, a cross graces every classroom, office and common area, and the school maintains close ties with the local Church. The university is named after Saint John the Baptist.
