Admitted students may receive the Usask Graduate Students Scholarships which provide a variety of funding sources for graduate students at the University of Saskatchewan.

Many students are supported by a combination of awards, fellowships, or scholarships from university wide competitions, department specific opportunities, and national or external awards. Scholarships and awards are available for Canadian citizens, permanent residents as well for international students admitted in graduate degree program.

Usask Graduate Students Scholarships Benefits

Scholarships are awarded to deserving students at the time of admission or during their studies. The University of Saskatchewan offers various scholarships and awards to its admitted students as shown below:

  • Dean’s scholarship: Master’s ($18,000 for up to two years) and Doctoral ($22,000 for up to three years) ;
  • Teacher-Scholar Doctoral Fellowships: up to $21,000 for one year, during which they will receive training in university teaching, and, will deliver an undergraduate course under the guidance of a faculty mentor ;
  • University of Saskatchewan Graduate Scholarships (UGS): $20,000 per year for up to 3 years ;
  • University of Saskatchewan Graduate Teaching Fellowships: Provides students with $12,000 from September to April and $4,000 for May to August. You are required to work 12 hours per week for the September to April period ;
  • University of Saskatchewan Graduate Teaching Assistantships: $20.04 per hour ;
  • University of Saskatchewan Graduate research Assistantships: $20.04 per hour. ;
  • University of Saskatchewan International Excellence Awards: $10,000 ;
  • University of Saskatchewan Graduate Service Fellowships: $5,400 for a 4-month term ;
  • Department funding: Many students receive funding from their department or supervisor’s research grants ;
  • Tri-Agency: All graduate students who have been awarded a Tri-Agency scholarship, will receive an additional $6,000 annual top-up scholarship for each year that they hold the Tri-Agency award etc.
