The Centre d’Etudes Maghrébines à Tunis (CEMAT) announces its highly competitive short-term research grants for Tunisian scholars to travel to US Universities for a period of up to eight weeks. For this year’s competition, preference will be given to research projects focusing on such issue areas as Economic Development and Entrepreneurship, Constitutional Law and juridical studies, US Foreign Policy, Security Policy, Language and Literature and American Studies. US travel should take place between June 1 and November 30, 2015.
Eligible candidates:
Faculty members or Doctoral candidates who are registered at Tunisian universities, working on their theses and wishing to conduct research at US Universities; or
Scholars who teach American Studies at the post secondary/university level and wish to conduct research for American Studies course development and/or enrichment
Preference will be given to candidates who have previously not received scholarly fellowships to the United States.
Each Grant includes:
A stipend of up to $ 8,000 towards travel, living costs, book purchases, and visa fees (if applicable)
A complete application should include the following items:
A CV (in English) including your name as it appears on your passport; gender; birth date, place and country; residence address; telephone and email;
medical, physical or dietary considerations; educational degrees with institutions and completion or projected completion dates; work experience (including current position and work address); relevant publications;
Previous experience in the US; language skills and levels of fluency (including English).
A project description (in English) of five to seven double-spaced pages, describing either your doctoral thesis project or the course(s) you propose to develop, what information you need to collect, the professional and personal benefits of research in the US, and in what place(s) you would most like to do the research.
One letter of reference in English, French, or Arabic.
