The American Library Association is accepting nominations for the 2020 Forest Press Award for International Librarianship. The award consists of a prize of $1,000 and a certificate, which is presented at the International Librarians Reception during the ALA Annual Conference. The award is given to a librarian or person who has made significant contributions to international librarianship.

About the Award:-

  • Created on the occasion of the retirement of John Humphry as Executive Director of Forest Press, publisher of the Dewey Decimal Classification, the award recognizes Humphry's far-ranging work to internationalize the English language editions of Dewey and to ensure that translations were adapted to meet the needs of other cultures and countries.
  • The award is to be given to a librarian or other individual, in the
United States or elsewhere, who has made a significant contribution to international librarianship.
  • The contribution may include, but is not limited to, the publication of significant professional literature, participation in library organizations, the introduction of new technologies or theories, or outstanding teaching.
  • Primary consideration will be given to contributions in the field of subject analysis and subject classification and to contributions in Third World countries, although the award is not limited to these areas.

The Prizes:-

A cash award of $1,000 and a certificate will be given.
