The kroc institute for international peace studies at the University of Notre Dame is offering a Master of Global Affairs Program (MGA) in International Peace Studies (IPS). The IPS curriculum is rigorously interdisciplinary and pushes students to move beyond simplistic solutions to violence and toward conflict transformation in complex and dynamic environments.

About the Program:-

  • Following a year of coursework on campus, participants in the IPS concentration will spend six months working with leading organizations in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, or the United States, strengthening their professional skills through reflective practice. 

  • Students return to campus for their final semester to complete an integrative master’s capstone project.

Eligibility:-

A competitive master of global affairs candidate meets the following criteria:

  • A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from a four-year college or university.

  • A 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

  • Ideally two years of professional experience in a global setting.

  • Language proficiency in English and a second language.

  • English language test scores.

  • Applicants are also asked to write a statement in their application about how the master’s degree will advance their professional goals.

Requirements and Conditions:-

  • The program requires successful completion of full-time coursework and a field experience during 2 full academic years (four semesters plus full-time engagement during the summer between the first and second year).
  • Competitive applicants should have significant work or volunteer experience in international or global settings related to global affairs, peace, justice, international development, or similar fields.
  • There is no separate application for scholarships and all accepted students will automatically be considered.

Benefits:-

  • The kroc institute offers all students who are accepted into the master’s program a full scholarship and stipend for housing and living expenses for two years. The level of support is variable.
  • The MGA program integrates rigorous coursework, close engagement with policymakers and practitioners, multi-disciplinary faculty and students from around the world and extended field work with global and local partner organizations. 
  • MGA students can also pursue concentrations in Sustainable Development and Global Affairs + Specialization.
