One Post-doctoral scholarship to work in the Laboratory of Combustion, Propulsion, and Energy of the "Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica" in Brazil, on the topics related to the combustion of ethanol in spark-ignition engines.

The Engineering Research Center “Prof. Urbano Ernesto Stumpf (CPE), hosted by Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia has opened a call for applicants for postdoctoral fellowship opportunities funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the Laboratory of Combustion, Propulsion, and Energy of the "Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica" in Brazil, on the topics related to the combustion of ethanol in spark-ignition engines.

Research – Conceptual study of an advanced ethanol engine, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Pedro Teixeira Lacava (LCPE/ITA), the post-doctoral fellow will work with experimental investigations related to ethanol-fuels combustion in spark-ignition engines. The main activity is the high-speed camera image processing for flame propagation in an optical research engine, separated into topics: 1) images acquirement; 2) image processing; 3) determination of combustion parameters from the image processing; 4) improvements on image processing methodology.

Important:

Minimum requirements: doctoral thesis related to spark ignition combustion engines.
Desirable requirements: important scientific publications and patents on topics close to post-doctoral activities.
The selected will receive FAPESP Post-doctoral Scholarship is R$7.373.10 (around USD 1.900 or EURO 1.700), per month and Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual scholarship amount to meet unforeseen expenses and directly related to the research activity. The scholarship will be until October 2021.
