In situ treatments of contaminated subsoils are limited by the lack of controlled contact between contaminants and the remedial fluids. Currently, viscous water-based fluids are developed and assessed for the in situ environmental remediation of aquifers in order to keep a good control of their propagation. The combination of viscous fluids to control better targeted flows, and real-time imaging of clean-up operations through the development of electrical tomography methods is expected to significantly improve the performance of treatments. Dedicated facilities available at UTINAM (2D to 3D-sandboxes and ERT-equipments (SYSCAL Junior SWITCH 48, IRIS instruments; Strip-unit box 48 electrodes for connexion to sandboxes; softwares (Electre Pro, ProsysII, Res2DInv; Res3DInv)) will be used in that aim. The recruited person will work with a researcher, strongly experienced with injection methods and who will perform all regarding injected and recovered fluids. The recruited person will develop electrical tomography methods for imaging of the treated zones and will cross-check information from visualization and accurate physicochemical mapping. Finally, He/She will be involved in field-assessments of all the developed methods with academic and industrial partners.

Candidate profile

The recruited person will have a PhD in electrical tomography methods in order to be autonomous and efficient in that area. He/She hold a PhD in relation with the use of electrical tomography. He/She is enthusiastic and motivated on performing accurate experimental work using advanced equipments, experimental design as well as data processing methods. He/She is handy.

You would like an interdisciplinary project with potential benefits for environment, sustainable development and industry. You are quality-oriented with a taste for scientific rigor, conscientious, open-minded, creative, dynamic and collaborative.

You are used to make reports and easily communicate with different audiences. You have good writing skills and a good level of English. Knowledge in French would be great.
