Established in 1980 by a gift of $5,000 from Owen Maynard Fletcher, Solicitor, of Brisbane. The fund may be used for the purpose of expanding and promoting research studies in law, and may make financial assistance available from the fund to eligible students, provided that if in any year it is of the opinion that research studies in law will be benefited by doing so.
This is a Philanthropic, Higher Degree by Research Grant.

Applicants must submit a single-spaced 2 page document justifying use of the funds requested, a budget and CV. Preference will be given to applicants who have successfully passed confirmation. When preparing your application, please note that travel restrictions are still currently in place.

Selection of a scholar will be made on the recommendation of the Executive Committee. An eligible student may apply to the Committee for financial assistance from the fund. In considering whether to recommend that assistance be given, the Committee may take into account any matter which it considers relevant to the merits of the application, bearing in mind the donor’s expressed wish that the fund should be used for the purpose of expanding and promoting full-time research studies in law.
