Description

Established in 2012 and maintained by gifts from Ms. Hilary Huey, who graduated from The University of Queensland with a Diploma in Physical Education in 1970.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide undergraduate veterinary science students with funding to undertake practical educational placements in rural communities (both domestic and international) in their practical training rotations within the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) program, in order to gain experience and confidence in working with livestock and large farm animals.

Eligibility

An applicant is eligible for the scholarship if the applicant:

  •  submits an application by the closing date for applications; and
  •  is a domestic student in accordance with The University's Fee Policy; and
  •  has been approved to undertake the practical placement component of their Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) program in a rural community.

Please complete and submit the Webb-Jenkins Veterinary Travel Scholarship online application form by 12th May 2021 at 11.59 PM AEST. Please ensure you've read the prompts in the application form and attach all relevant supporting documents before submitting your application. No late or incomplete scholarship applications will be considered.

All submissions will be kept confidential and only used for the purposes of assessing the scholarship. 

Selection criteria

The scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by:

  • academic achievement in courses undertaken in the program to date; and
  • financial hardship; and
  • personal qualities; and
  • any other evidence which may be deemed relevant to the applicant's future success in the veterinary profession.

Preference will be given to students who intend to work in a rural location after the completion of the relevant program.
