Description

Established in 2020 as part of the UQ Giving Society’s “The Next Million Dollar Project”. Along with seed-funding provided by Alumni Friends, Adjunct Professor Joan Lawrence AM donated funds to establish a The Joan Lawrence AM Scholarship Endowment to support Medicine students who are facing financial hardship.

Eligibility

An applicant is eligible for a Scholarship, if the applicant –

submits an application to the Dean, by the closing date for applications;
is enrolled full-time in the Doctor of Medicine;
can provide documentary evidence of financial hardship; and
does not hold another Scholarship that the Dean considers similar.

Your application must include the following:

Completed Cover Page
Completed Student Income Statement (please note that payments received from Centrelink are considered as income)
Centrelink Income Statement
Copy of your unofficial transcript from Si-Net
Personal statement demonstrating how the Scholarship will assist completion of the Doctor of Medicine

Selection criteria

The Scholarships will be awarded to applicants showing greatest merit, as demonstrated by –

evidence of financial need;
strength of personal statement demonstrating how the Scholarship will assist completion of the Doctor of Medicine;
where applicable, any additional requirements for Named Scholarships as outlined in Addendum 1; and
any other matter that the selection committee considers relevant to the applicant’s future success in their study.
