The call for direct applications for a stay at the Collegium de Lyon in 2019-2020 is open.
All applications have to be sent using the online application tool. Before creating an application, candidates must open a "Nuxeo" account.
The IAS Collegium de Lyon welcomes about 15 fellows each year. During their stays, fellows are released from their usual obligations, such as teaching and administrative tasks, and are thus free to pursue their research project. They benefit from a stimulating environment, within the scientific community created by the group of fellows, and by the academic context of Lyon Saint Etienne.
Direct Applications:selection process
The Collegium de Lyon selection process is designed to allow for high-level applications and most innovative projects to emerge, while ensuring equality between the applicants, transparency of the process and the respect of the provided data.
The candidates can submit original projects or projects on specific research themes. Generally speaking, projects within the scope of one of the three priority themes of the IDEXLYON (Initiative d'excellence) will be reviewed sympathetically. The three IDEX themes are Bio-Health and society, Science and engineering, and Humanities and urbanity.
The steps of the application process and the criteria for selection at each step are described in the guidelines for applications. Advice for preparing the application file is also included, as well as information about how we use the data you provide.
Applications via the EURIAS fellowship programme
The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme is an international researcher mobility programme offering 10-month residencies in one of the participating Institutes.
The last call for application was held in 2017. The last cohort selected in the frame of the EURIAS programme will be in residence at the Collegium de Lyon in 2018-2019.
Main Research Themes
Original projects
As an Institute of Advanced Study, the purpose of the Collegium de Lyon is to create a scientific community of excellence, focused mainly on humanities and social sciences but without excluding exact sciences, especially in the case of transversal topics with an innovating point of view.
The Collegium de Lyon is open to all applications and looks forward to receiving individual, original and high-level projects from a wide range of field of studies, research focus and societal questions.
Two criteria are considered in priority when selecting the projects:
scientific excellence, especially the innovative aspect of the project, which is expected to bring significant progress in the knowledge about a specific topic
a relevant connection with the research potential of the academic site of Lyon-Saint-Etienne (see the overview of the research in the Université de Lyon) and the intention to developp active links with the labs
Generally speaking, in parallel with the projects on specific themes of research (see below), projects within the scope of one of the three priority themes of the IDEXLYON (Initiative d'excellence) will be reviewed sympathetically. The three IDEX themes are Bio-Health and society, Science and engineering, and Humanities and urbanity.
Projects on specific themes of research
In addition to projects that are totally free and without specific conditions regarding the nature and subject of the theme of research, some positions are open in priority for subjects that match specific research programs in Lyon Saint Etienne.
