You can bet your sorry laptop that we just opened the Call for Speakers. We know that for WordCamp Europe 2019, just like in previous years, we will receive many inspiring and valuable talk applications and our favorite task is to read through all of them in order to select those who will be speaking at this year’s event.
What topic should I apply with?
We accept ALL topics related to WordPress and Web Design/Development and encourage them. The charm of WCEU is that we welcome a diverse lineup of talented speakers to provide value to our broad audience.
One of our focuses for next year is to line up more front-end/JavaScript frameworks talks. We have heard your wishes loud and clear in our community survey, with the largest number of survey responses coming from developers.
We’re hoping to receive a wide variety of Front End talks, so if you are a developer or have a technical talk that you would like to share at WCEU, please apply, because it’s you that our audience is looking for.
However, this shouldn’t discourage anyone who wants to apply to talk about other topics. We want to schedule a good variety of quality talks that will interest all types of WordPressers, so we are also looking for topics such as Marketing, Business, Blogging and other topics you believe might be interesting to the WCEU community.
We are an open and welcoming community who encourage speaker applications from all over the world, even if you are new to the WordPress community, tell us how you are making the web a better place.
Here are some of the most requested topics to inspire you:
We are planning the following formats for sessions:
Like in Belgrade at WCEU 2018, we are planning to have multiple tracks. Each slot in the schedule will be one hour long. Content will take up to 40 minutes of each hour, which gives attendees 20 minutes after each session to switch between tracks, grab a cup of coffee, and chat with other attendees.
It is always an advantage to have experience as a speaker when answering a Call for Speakers. When reviewing speaker applications, we will take that previous speaking experience into account. If you have a few WordCamps lined up to add to your speaking experience before WordCamp Europe, but after you send in your application, make sure you tell us that too.
Speaking in front of a large audience can be overwhelming, even for experienced speakers, which is why we want to lend a helping hand. This year, the content team will be sharing resources and tips on how to put together a successful presentation as well as how to be more comfortable on stage.
The Call for Speakers will be open until 7 January, so please make sure that you submit your application in time.
Important: If you are thinking about sending us a workshop proposal, or if you want to send a workshop proposal in addition to your talk, we will announce and open the workshop call next week, so it’s not long to wait!
Here is what the application process looks like:
People come from all over the world to learn from WCEU speakers and get inspired. We love that we are able to bring experts and motivational people to our stage year after year, and we encourage you to share your amazing talk ideas for WCEU 2019 with us.
