Fully Funded Master Scholarships from Erasmus Mundus in Aquaculture, Environment, and Society

The Erasmus Mundus program offers a Joint Master degree scholarships in Aquaculture, Environment and Society Plus (EMJMD ACES\ACES+) for outstanding students from around the world. These scholarships aim to address the major scientific, technological and social problems facing the sustainable development of the global aquaculture industry. The scholarship is a two-year, full-time program that gives students the practical and theoretical skills necessary to succeed in the aquaculture profession. Students will study in up to four centers of European excellence in aquaculture research and learning; Scotland, Crete, France, and the Netherlands.

Eligibility Criteria:

The scholarship is open to students who meet the following conditions:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of the fields of biological or environmental sciences. An appropriate background could include; aquaculture-related studies, marine science and/or resources, aquatic biology, biology, or environmental sciences linked to the field of marine science and fisheries.
  • A Secure English Language Test (i.e. IELTS) certificate (applicants must achieve an overall score of 6.5 in this test and a minimum of 6.0 in all four components).

Scholarship Value:

Erasmus Mundus scholarships cover tuition fees, travel, and living expenses.

Required Documents:

  • Completed EMJMD ACES+ application form in English, which must include a 350-word motivation (or personal) statement and 350-word statement giving information or examples of your previous experience in the field of aquaculture.
  • Completed UHI International application form. This is a standard UHI form that must be completed in English. Please note, for the section on ‘Course Details’ please insert UHI-SAMS and please leave blank the ‘Personal Statement’ as this information collected in your EMJMD ACES+ application form, as above.
  • The scholarship application 2020 
  • Curriculum vitae (CV).
  • A recommendation letter (500 – 800 words) – this reference should be written by a manager or senior colleague who is familiar with your work for at least one year.

Your reference should include details on the following:

  • How long and in what capacity the referee has known the applicant.
  • The role and tasks that the applicant has performed in the organization.
  • Example(s) of good innovative work by the applicant.
  • Areas of work that the applicant needs to develop.
  • The importance of advanced education to the applicant’s career and to the aquaculture sector in the applicant’s country.
  • Basic details about the organization and its work with the aquaculture industry.
  • Full contact details and original (not scanned) signature of your referee.
  • Copy of your passport.
  • Copy of your degree certificate (plus certified translation into English if applicable).
  • Copy of your transcript of marks (plus certified translation into English if applicable).
  • Copy of your Secure English Language Test certificate.
