Supreme Council of Culture in Egypt invites writers to submit their creative works for Youssef Idris Short Story Competition 2019.

Rules and Conditions:

  1. Only short-story-collections written by Egyptian nationals to be accepted.
  2. The first Edition of the submitted collection has been published less than three years before the competition announcement.
  3. Entrant can't submit the same collection for another competition until Youssef Idris Short Story Competition results are made known.
  4. Prize-Winning-Books aren't eligible for this competition.
  5. Submitted hard copies are not to be retrieved after the competition.

Prizes:

The total value of this award is 80,000 EGP, First-Placer receives 50,000, and Second-Placer receives 30,000.

Required Documents:

  1. Four hard copies of each short story collection.
  2. Brief Resume written to CD/DVD.
  3. Photocopy of National ID.
  4. Photocopy of a bank statement, mentioning Participants' Account Number.
  5. Writer's Acknowledgement Letter to certify he/she shall not submit the same short-story-collection for another competition prior to Yousef Idris competition finalization.
  6. Another Acknowledgement Letter to hereby stress that submitted book has never won any prizes before.

About Supreme Council of Culture:

Supreme Council of Culture was established in 1956 as an independent body affiliated to the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers, with a mission of coordinating the efforts of government institutions working in the fields of art, literature and to unite these efforts. SCC has extended to be the main setter of the cultural policy all over Egypt, working through its 28 committees, consisting of an elite group of Egyptian intellectuals and artists across the spectrum and from different age groups. These committees work in the fields of arts, literature and social sciences.
