Job Opportunity for Accountants in the International Rescue Committee in Lebanon

The international rescue committee requires an Accountant in its branch in Beirut. It's a full-time job in the finance sector.

Job Description:

The accountant is responsible for day-to-day data processing while keeping in line with IRC policies and procedures with the guidance of the Deputy Finance Manager. To contribute to the IRC Lebanon Finance Department with the implementation of all appropriate processes to ensure the continued effective operation of the accounting functions, transparency, and accountability.

Eligibility:

You should have the following criteria to be accepted at this job:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Advanced Diploma in Accounting from recognized College/Institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance or administration.
  • Work experience in a complex environment, as well as experience with NGOs, is a plus.
  • Computer literate with some experience in excel, accounting package knowledge.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to prioritize among multiple tasks and make decisions.
  • Team player and ability to work in a stressful environment.

 Your Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the implementation of Finance policies and procedures.
  2. Processing of the data entry, bank, and cash transactions, on a daily basis ensuring correct budget codes.
  3. Process payments through the preparation of checks and bank transfers after submission of the complete supporting documents.
  4. Review petty cash expenses and process payments ensuring compliance with IRC policies and procedures.
  5. Review supporting documents for various types of payments ensuring they are complete, with appropriate verification / & authorizations.
  6. Review supporting documents for payments related to volunteers, beneficiaries, etc.  ensuring they are complete.
  7. Organize and maintain an efficient and effective filing system for all financial, accounting, contracting, and other documentation.
  8. Conduct regular site visits to process program-related payments & participate in the ATM card distributions and cash payments.
  9. Handle checks for suppliers, and/or verify payment recipients, and follow up on the check receipts related to the area.
  10. Prepare various tracking sheets such as advance tracking sheets, lease agreements tracking sheets, checks receipts tracking sheets, etc.
  11. Maintain custody of the office petty cash and make payments of approved transactions.
  12. Provide assistance during audit processes and donor visits with timely provision of selected documents.
  13. Assist in other finance reconciliations, during the month / and year-end closure, as requested by the supervisor such as:
  • Preparation of bank reconciliation statements of bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Perform other functions as requested by the supervisor.
  • Travel between the field office and the main IRC office in Beirut.
