Walt Disney Animation Studios offers a Summer Internship Program, which is designed for students studying art, animation, computer graphics, and film. Talent Development interns will have the unique opportunity to work directly with a Disney mentor as you explore all aspects of art, storytelling, and filmmaking. This immersive program offers hands-on experience focused on individual craft and multidisciplinary team collaboration. The 2020 Summer Intern program will be held at our Burbank, CA studio.

Duration:

Ten-week of experience.

Eligibility Criteria:

Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student who will return to school in the fall of 2020.
Interest in CG Character Departments such as Modeling, Character TDs (rigging, hair cloth simulation, technical animation), Look Development, Layout. Multiple disciplines a plus.
Demonstrated experience and interests in the CG arts.
Working knowledge/understanding of CG software such as Maya, ZBrush, Houdini, StudioPaint, Painter, Renderman, or Photoshop.
Strong eye for visual appeal.
Background in art, animation, or filmmaking a plus.
Scripting (MEL, PERL, CSH) a plus.

Duties:

CG Character artist intern will be exposed to various departments within our character pipeline. And within the internship program, interns will be offered individualized mentorship as they explore the following disciplines:

Modeling - Characters, humans, animals, creatures.
CG Texturing/Surfacing - Cloth, grooming.
Character TD - Rigging, hair and cloth simulation, technical animation.
Layout - CG camera and character blocking for storytelling purposes.
