The World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking to fill for candidates to participate in the PD Summer Internship Programme 2020 in the Policy and Programme Department (PD) in the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) field in Amman, Jordan. The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. The internship will be typically for the period of at least 3 months from May/June to August/ September 2020.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the VAM/M&E Unit, the PD Summer Intern will perform the following duties:

  1. Analyze quantitative and qualitative information to evaluate the performance and results of each activity.
  2. Provide coordination support of internal meetings, external meetings with governmental counterparts, and other M&E-related activities.
  3. Work closely with external implementing partners and project management offices to ensure the outputs are delivered timely and transparently.
  4. Assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within M&E.
  5. Provide specialized M&E support to specific and/or defined programs to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
  6. Prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, program status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
  7. Perform accurate, timely recording of data within M&E and ensure consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  8. Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  9. Act as a point of contact for the resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within M&E.
  10. Constructive coordination with program and support functions within WFP.
  11. Other tasks as requested by the Supervisor.

Requirements:

  1. Currently enrolled in a master’s degree program OR a recent graduate of a master’s degree (graduated within the last 6 months).
  2. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
  3. Excellent English verbal and writing skills.
  4. Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  5. First experiences with quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

  2. Very good knowledge of M&E products and tools to enhance the quality of the programs.

  4. General understanding of WFP as an organization.
  5. Strengthened analytical capabilities and report writing skills.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The PD intern will be paid a monthly stipend of approximately USD 800 per month as a contribution to basic subsistence costs.
  2. WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas, and related costs.
  3. WFP will reimburse travel tickets for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  4. WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognized institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  5. Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
