Scholarships for Short-Term Courses for Professionals in Economics and Politics in the Netherlands 2020

Nuffic is offering the MENA Scholarship Program (MSP) and the Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) for professionals in several disciplines in the Netherlands for 2020, which offers short-term courses for professionals in their areas of interest. 

Available areas of study:

  1. Multilevel Water Governance (7 – 18 September 2020).
  2. Local Economic Development (21 September – 2 October 2020).
  3. Conflict, Rule of Law and Local Security (26 October – 6 November 2020).
  4. Gender Responsive Governance (16 – 27 November 2020).

Eligibility criteria:

For OKP Scholarships:

  1. There is no age limit. 
  2. The applicant must be a national of, and working and living in one of the following countries on OKP country list.
  3. The applicant must not be employed by an organization that has its own means of staff development, for example, multinational corporations, or large national and/or large commercial organizations, or bilateral donor organizations or multilateral donor organizations, or international NGOs. 
  4. The applicant must have a current Employer Statement according to the prescribed Nuffic Format. All the requested segments must be completed. 
  5. The Employer Statement must be scanned with the original signature and stamp of the organization, and preferably on the official letterhead of the organization.
  6. If applicable, the applicant must have a government statement that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established. 
  7. The applicant must have a passport that is valid at least 4 months after the application deadline. 
  8. The applicant must not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time.
  9. The short courses are taught in English. Therefore, it is important that your English language skills (writing and speaking) are good. Pleases add you IELTS or other language proficiency scores if this is relevant. 
  10. A minimum of 2 years of work experience is required, working with or for local or regional authorities. It is to your advantage if the work/experience is related to the content of the training

For MSP scholarships:

  1. The MSP scholarships are open to professionals who are nationals of - and living and working in - one of the countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia.
  2. You must meet the same employer, language and work experience criteria mentioned above for OKP Scholarships. 
  3. You must not be over 45 years of age on the application deadline (+ 2 weeks). 
  4. The applicant must have a passport that is valid on the application deadline (+ 2 weeks).

Funding:

The program and course fees are all funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

About Nuffic:

Nuffic is the Dutch organization for internationalization in education. It is an independent, non-profit organization based in The Hague, the Netherlands. Nuffic was founded on 11 January 1952 by the president curators of the then Dutch universities. The goal was primarily to organize English education for students from developing countries that had recently gained independence. Its most important contract partners are the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture & Science and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nuffic plays an important role in fostering international cooperation in education between the Netherlands and other countries.
