The crown prince foundation in Jordan announces a new opportunity for students who wish to enroll in its special training program for the year 2020 at the National Center for Space Studies (CNES) in Toulouse, France. JANUS is a project which aims at helping students to build their own nanosatellites. The project also covers the development of ground stations used to communicate with those nanosatellites. The goal of the internship is to adapt the existing ground receiving stations in order to make them compatible with the ongoing nanosatellites projects. 

Eligibility:

  • You must be in a university master’s level or bachelor’s level.
  • You should have good knowledge of electronics and computing. 
  • Applicants must be Jordanian nationals and enrolled in a full-time B.Sc. or PhD students in a Jordanian university, majoring in telecommunications engineering or mechatronics.
  • Students must be in their third or fourth study year.
  • Student must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above or its equivalent standard 86% or above. 
  • Student must show proficiency in English (or French) and have completed the IELTS or the TOEFL tests with a score of 5 or above for IELTS; 100 or above for the TOEFL internet-based test, or 250 for the computer-based test and or 600 for the paper TOEFL based test. 
  • Student must demonstrate the successful completion of, or be currently working on, an engineering project.
  • Student must demonstrate abilities:
  1. To proactively deliver on their projects and duties as per the set guidelines.
  2. Work autonomously and in teams.
  3. In reading and interpreting the technical drawings and job instructions.
  4. To show accuracy, aptitude, quality awareness.
  5. Student must have physical capabilities to carry and mount equipment (antenna, racks,…) related to the topic addressed (working on ground stations).

Your Responsibilities:

In this framework, the intern will:

  • Make a list of the existing equipment.
  • Identify the modifications which need to be implemented on the equipment and on the software.
  • Develop the drivers needed to command the equipment.
  • Perform global tests to verify the proper functioning of the equipment.
