The United Nations is offering a volunteer opportunity in Abu Dhabi. For this opportunity, the UN is looking for an online volunteer to contribute to and/or manage social media accounts in regards to the Flight of the Osprey project to engage and retain followers and help tell the story of the migrating bird the UN will be following on the next expedition. The role is vital to help create an engaging visual brand for an important cause.

Role:

You will play a critical role in an important and ground-breaking conservation project.
You will be part of a highly motivated team with a challenging mission.
You will receive invitations to team meetings, expedition fundraising, and profile-raising events.

About the Program:

The CMS Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia (Raptors MOU) aims to promote internationally coordinated actions to achieve and maintain the favorable conservation status of migratory birds of prey across Africa/Eurasia, and to reverse their decline.
The Flight of the Osprey Project, which is supported by the Raptors MOU, is an innovative airborne conservation project, accompanying the osprey on its 2020 autumn migration across Europe and Africa. This 7000 km paramotor expedition will gather vital data on the threats faced by this iconic bird of prey and other migratory species.
The duration of the task is flexible, depending on your availability to provide support. Upon completion, the online volunteer will receive due credit and a certificate of appreciation.

Objectives:

The UN will create a unique platform from which to engage, educate and empower communities along the flyway and further afield, promoting a deeper understanding of the challenges to migratory birds, both within and beyond the conservation community.
A journey across rising seas and vast deserts, the team will show in a dramatic and tangible way, the catastrophic effects of a changing climate and other human impacts on our wildlife, their habitats, and people that live along the flyway.

Requirements:

You should have command of best practices and trends in social media marketing, enjoy being creative, understand how to both build and engage with a digital audience, be happy to take guidance but have lots of initiative and a confident and professional approach to communicating.
Building and managing social media profiles and presence.
Creating/sourcing shareable content (words, videos, and photography), etc.
