The Lausanne International Comic Strip Festival BDFIL is presenting its new comics competition, under the title of Nouveau talent, that is the comix competition of BDFIL, which is dedicated to the promotion of new talent. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 15 who has not yet been published. This year's edition theme is "Spaghetti".

Competition rules:

  1. The comix competition Nouveau talent BDFIL 2020 is open to anyone over the age of 15.
  2. Submitted works have to be never been published in the form of an album, regularly in a large-circulation newspaper or magazine, or an expert reviewed online platform or under any editorial license.
  3. Participants whose work is being published on the 30 of June 2020 will be disqualified.
  4. Each participant may enter one project only.
  5. As the competition aims to encourage and recompense complete artists, collective entries will not be accepted.
  6. Winners of previous competitions, with the exception of ‘special mentions’, are not allowed to re-enter.

Submitted projects should be:

  1. Every project should present a complete story, on one board, with or without text, and be closely connected with the theme of the competition : “Spaghetti”. This theme may be freely interpreted.
  2. Every project should be presented on a format A4 or A3 and in the French format (vertical).
  3. Projects that contain no narrative or that are presented in a different format will be automatically excluded from the competition.
  4. Participants are free to choose the style, form and the materials used for their projects. Any text/dialogue used in the story must be in french, german, english or italian.
  5. The projects received will be the subject of an exhibition during the festival as part of the 16th edition (17 – 21 September 2020).

Prizes:

Competition offers three prize-winners:

  1. 1st prize CHF 2’000 (~ € 1’875).
  2. 2nd prize CHF 1’500 (~ € 1’400).
  3. 3rd prize CHF 1’000 (~ € 940).

The three prize-winners will be notified personally by telephone and by e-mail.

About BDFIL:

The Lausanne International Comic Strip Festival (BDFIL) is a comic book festival. Its first edition took place from September 2 to 4, 2005. It is organized every year, in September, generally over the course of three or four days. Each year, it welcomes an average of 80 artists (Swiss and international) and 30,000 visitors.
