The United Nations Volunteers Program is looking for online volunteers to work in the Translation of the mapping project finding on Jordan from English to Arabic.

Main Tasks:

The mapping project findings consist of a 20-page Country Profile focusing on assistance to victims of sexual exploitation and abuse. The document is built through answers to questionnaires designed by the Office of the Victims’ Rights Advocate (OVRA), interviews and desk research, a technical country mission by the OVRA and previous mappings conducted by the United Nations and other entities, and does not purport to be exhaustive.

Background and Objectives:

In 2018 the Secretary-General instructed the Victims' Rights Advocate to undertake a comprehensive mapping of victims’ rights approaches and services available system-wide, building on the work already undertaken in this area, and to provide a clear overview of gaps, overlaps, lessons-learned and best practices. Pursuant to this request, the OVRA designed a pilot strategy to collect information on services available to victims of sexual exploitation and abuse in thirteen countries. These countries were chosen taking into account the number of allegations received, geographic balance, the nature of the United Nations’ presence, risk factors, among other elements. Jordan was included amongst these countries due to the large-scale United Nations operations in the country encompassing humanitarian and development activities which serve beneficiaries in vulnerable situations who may be at risk of sexual exploitation and abuse by United Nations personnel. The overview covers information on services available to victims in Jordan primarily from 2017 to 2019, but reference is made to relevant material outside that period.

Requirements:

Candidates should have previous experience in translating documents and reports, excellent communication and strong writing skills. Prior experience with translating documents within the United Nations system is an asset.

About the UN Volunteers:
