Job Opportunity with Nestle in Canada: Regional Sales Manager 2020

Nestle is looking for a qualified Regional Sales Manager to be responsible for the management of a Regional Sales Team and work in Canada for 2020. The manager will also be responsible for selling to veterinary clinics and distributors, and the associated Customer Contribution to NPP Canada, as well as the “go to market” strategic plan for the customer base and the integration and alignment of regional field selling team.

Major Responsibilities:

Accountable for the strategic Regional plan, based on internal objectives, Marketing, and Trade Marketing plans, as well as external competitive marketplace issues and opportunities:

  1. Determines the regional Account strategy with a special focus on Veterinary education, Pet Food Assortment and  Merchandising, and best practice Sales promotion.
  2. Ensures NPP’s Call Coverage is best in Class in PetCare – with frequency, coverage and distribution objectives established and tracked.
  3. Accountable for resource deployment based on sub-channel priorities and strategies i.e. buying group, banner group, independent clinic. Special emphasis on coverage and frequency to align to regional priorities.

Accountable for the Regional Sales and customer contribution/NCS:

  1. Handles sensitive matters within the largest regional customers and distributors, as well as the execution of the regional plan through team members
  2. Ensures high visibility for Purina within the Trade.

Cultivates synergy and collaborative relationships via Integrated Commercial Planning between Marketing and Trade Marketing:

  1. Ensures the integration of Brand Plans with Veterinary Channel plans and strategy.
  2. Develops the Regional plan, including a  focus on large customers, from the National Plan.
  3. Ensures alignment and leverages Purina Tech services, Nutritionists etc, to enhance perception of Purina within the channel

Responsible for Trade Spend and maximizing Customer Contribution/NCS within the Region by managing a budget:

  1. Drives pre and post promotion evaluation to increase ROI.
  2. Manages elements of the National budget within the channel i.e. salary, travel, meals etc.
  3. Enhances working capital by lowering Days Deduction Outstanding and sales related NPP Bad Goods.

Responsible for the development of people resources under their control:

  1. Recruits and oversees the professional development and progression for direct reports.
  2. Ensures enhanced focus on nutritional training to team members on product portfolio.
  3. Accountable for Regional Sales Reporting, including sales spends budgets.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of a University Business Degree, with a focus on sales/marketing. Science/Veterinary discipline would also be an asset.
  2. 4-5 years of progressive sales experience, preferably from within the channel.
  3. Previous people management/coaching & development experience.
  4. Competencies must include strong leadership, interpersonal skills, analytical skills, project management, and time management skills
  5. Highly developed organizational, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  6. Strong problem solving and strategic business thinking.
  7. Advanced computer skills, specifically with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SAP is an asset.
