L’Oreal Innovation Runway is offering a competition for startups from the many fields of deep tech and various industries to shape the future of beauty together. This Challenge is open and offered solely to: Student, Individual Participant and Startup.

Eligibility Criteria: 

This Challenge is open and offered solely to:

Student:

  • Any individual aged eighteen (18) years and/or with full legal capacity who
  • is currently enrolled at a post-secondary institution or
  • has recently graduated from a post-secondary institution less than 2 years before the current academic year, with a student card as verification
  • Each Student may participate more than once in the Challenge.

Individual Participant:

  • Individuals aged eighteen (18) years and/or with full legal capacity at the time of registration
  • and who can pledge, as far as applicable law permits, to incorporate a business entity within three (3) months after the end date of this Challenge. 
  • Each Individual Participant may participate more than once in this Challenge.

Startup:

  • A business entity, regardless of its business area. 
  • Startups may be required, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, to provide proof of:
  1. company registration by submitting a registration certificate issued within the last three (3) months, or ongoing company registration
  2. or any trade registry and proof ensuring the registration of the entity in the relevant country
  3. and a valid professional insurance policy subscription.

Categories:

They are looking for solutions that can further improve products in these categories:

PROTECT:

Solutions for broader and superior protection against external aggressors and lifestyle stressors. Seeking innovative solutions that can be applied for:

  • Sun protection or shielding
  • Prevention of pollutants on skin and hair
  • Prevention through connected detection and diagnosis

CLEANSE:

Solutions for robust and natural cleansing systems to simplify one’s routine. Seeking innovative solutions that can be applied for:

  • New approach for cleansing or hygiene
  • Reduced water usage

REPAIR & ENHANCE:

Technologies that can repair damage and/or transform the quality of skin and hair. Seeking innovative solutions that can be applied for:

  • Instant and simple masking/removal of imperfections (“eraser”)
  • Creating instant and durable physical surface transformation (e.g. smooth skin, eliminate wrinkle and/or sagging skin)
  • Restoring the natural integrity, texture and shine of (hair) fiber
  • Lock the color and/or shape of (hair) fiber irreversibly

NEW INGREDIENTS & MATERIALS:

Seeking for opportunities to develop disruptive products based on technical functionalities coming from outside of beauty industry, in the field of: 

  • Tunable optical effects
  • Deposition, adhesion and film-former
  • Permanent bond to skin and hair surface
  • Biotechnologies

Prizes:

startups will receive prizes provided by both L'Oréal and StartupSG in the following:

  • Potential access to L'Oréal's leading R&D expertise in beauty
  • Financial Award of S$5,000 (each for 2 winners) $3600
  • Stand to win S$30,000 Startup SG Grant (each for 2 winners)
