The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking applications for a two to three years Postdoctoral Fellowship in nearshore marine ecology in the United. The successful candidate will have an appointment with the Marine Biology Department to be part of a $20 million 5-year National Science Foundation EPSCoR (Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) grant that supports interdisciplinary research in the State of Alaska. The position will be located in Juneau, Alaska, and the candidate will have access to an array of coastal physical, chemical, biological, and environmental data from which to develop projects, proposals, and manuscripts

Additional Responsibilities

The postdoctoral researcher undertaking this Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Alaska will also help coordinate a field team to conduct ecological sampling at estuary sites along with the Juneau road system. The postdoc will work in close coordination with the Coastal Margins PIs to assist with specific duties, including conducting beach seining and intertidal surveys; assisting with permitting and permit reporting; deploying, and maintaining HOBO-type sensors, and mentoring students. The post-doc will be expected to coordinate with EPSCoR leadership and the broader Coastal Margins team on data collection and sharing and participate in EPSCoR Fire and Ice workshops, meetings, and planning.
