We are pleased to invite applications for fully funded positions on our Master of Research (MRes)/PhD program in Economics and Finance. Both domestic and international candidates are eligible for tuition waivers and stipends covering their living expenses, offered by the School and College on a competitive basis. 1+3 year fellowships for those willing to pursue a PhD are also available through the Economic and Social Science Research Council (please note the early application deadline of January 31st). Finally, there is also a special funding scheme for Chinese citizens, through a joint venture with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and access to plenty of funding and training opportunities through the Queen Mary-Goldsmiths Doctoral Training College. Each PhD student is also provided with an annual GBP 1000 research fund which can be used to finance conference/summer school travel, research equipment etc. Further information can be found on the program website.
MRes/PhD students are provided desk space within the School. As such, they are an integral part of the School from day one of their studies. They will also enjoy access to extensive computing and data resources.
The School of Economics and Finance provides an excellent research environment for postgraduate research studies, including a weekly external seminar series as well as two weekly internal research seminars.
Further Details of the Program:
The MRes in Economics and the MRes in Finance are the entry routes to doctoral studies at the School of Economics of Finance. These programs are research-oriented postgraduate courses for students who already hold a good MSc in economics or a related field.
Upon successful completion of the MRes program students can progress to doctoral studies at Queen Mary and start the research intensive period of their postgraduate studies.

Our graduates are also typically hired by central banking institutions: recent placements include the Central Bank of Uruguay, Bank of England and the Bank of France.
