The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Switzerland is offering a job opportunity as a Video Producer in the News and Media Division in Geneva for 2020.

Tasks:

  1. Create and produce a wide variety of video-related products such as, but not limited to, news coverage of WIPO events, recording of WIPO conferences and seminars, interviews, video messages, clips and video animations, documentary films, talk shows.
  2.  Manage the production of video projects, provide editorial and artistic supervision, from conception to completion, to ensure that objectives are met within deadlines, and provide advice on the potential reaction of the public and stakeholders to material intended for dissemination.
  3. Act as a television producer for in-studio productions, and as a director, camera-person and/or video editor for in-house productions and on filming missions, revise working scripts, and review and recommend the approval of video content for final production and dissemination.
  4. Research and identify opportunities for publicizing aspects of the Organization's work, through video productions, and provide advice to, and collaborate with, other sectors in developing video materials for the promotion of WIPO activities and services.
  5. Identify and recommend the selection of external service providers, participate in negotiating terms and prepare contracts, according to WIPO policies and procedures, with third parties for production, post-production and distribution purposes.  Evaluate and supervise their work, and take action to address issues, delays or other problems.
  6. Supervise, and revise as necessary, the work of video production support staff. Assign and delegate work, ensure deadlines are met, and evaluate performance.
  7. Monitor the budget for the video production team, including the procurement of equipment and the maintenance of an in-house video studio, and recommend the allocation/reallocation of available funds.
  8. Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements: 

  1. First-level university degree in communications, journalism, media relations or a related subject.
  2. Audio-visual/video production graduate courses or certification.
  3. At least six years of demonstrated experience as television/film director/producer for major broadcast or digital publications, including in-studio experience.  An advanced degree in a relevant subject may be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of video development, production and project management; proven creative and technical experience and skills in handling professional video applications and software packages; good contacts and thorough knowledge of international and national broadcasting structures and social media channels.
  5. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken French or English and good knowledge of the other language.
  6. Knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable. 
  7. Good knowledge and practice of video development, production and post-production, ability to work independently in a multimedia studio;
  8. Proven creative and technical experience and skills in handling professional video applications and software packages. 
  9. Demonstrated experience in the use of professional camera equipment such as Sony FS5 and FS7, Canon 1DX.
  10. Demonstrated experience as an editor-cutter on Final Cut Pro X, familiar with After Effects;  Davinci Resolve software.
  11. Demonstrated experience with professional wireless audio recording equipment.
  12. Technical ability to shoot for news production, coupled with artistic ability in framing and composition.  
  13. Excellent team working and ability to work under pressure, editorial and technical constraints.
  14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  15. Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Mac (Apple) video/audio applications, Adobe Creative Suite and the Internet.

Benefits:

The WIPO offers an annual salary of $113,938 for the successful applicant.
