Disney offers an exceptional job opportunity as a Data Analyst in Australia for 2020. Data scientists on the Disney+ team are the insights and modeling partners for the content, marketing, product, and engineering teams. They use data to empower decision-makers with information, predictions, and insights that ultimately influence the experiences of millions of users worldwide. Scientists on the team build models, perform statistical analysis, and create visualizations to provide scalable, persistent capability that is iteratively improved through direct interaction with cross-functional business partners.

Responsibilities:

  1. Experimentation: Propose, analyse and execute experiments aimed at improving the service to understand the impact on the user experience.
  2. Deep analysis: Analyse user behavioural data to identify patterns, uncover opportunities, and create a common understanding of how people are interacting with the service and content.
  3. Partnership: Partner closely with business stakeholders to identify and investigate opportunities, and with other tech teams to improve platform capabilities around data modeling, testing platforms, data visualization, and data architecture.
  4. Modeling: Develop machine learning models for forecasting, opportunity sizing, and segmentation.
  5. Data Driven Culture: Work closely with Snr Manager, Analytics to enhance data culture in Disney Streaming Services Australia & New Zealand by defining and grooming the backlog and developing strategic roadmap for data.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree, PhD or MS in an analytical field or equivalent experience.
  2. 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and executing AB tests.
  3. 2+ years’ experience using SQL.
  4. 2+ years Python or other statistical programming language.
  5. Deep understanding of statistical concepts like hypothesis testing, Bayesian decision-making, etc.
  6. Hands-on experience in advanced data analysis.
  7. Strong communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience thinking strategically to interpret market and consumer information, preferably about a subscription service.
  2. Familiarity with data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker.
  3. Advanced degree in an analytical field or equivalent experience.
  4. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Ability to examines issues from a broad perspective while considering impact beyond immediate scope.
  6. Logical and lateral thinker.
  7. Excellent time management and organisation skills to ensure all priorities and multiple deadlines are met.
  8. A strong team player who contributes to an environment that embraces innovation.
  9. Strong communication skills including written, verbal and interpersonal.
