The James Madison Memorial fellowship Foundation is pleased to offer this call for nominations for, and applications from, qualified Cuban fellows for the 2019 Summer Institute on the Constitution of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation in Washington, D.C.Â
The Summer Institute on the Constitution:
The core of the Summer Institute is a graduate-level course entitled "The Foundations of American Constitutionalism." Taught by constitutional scholars, it examines the principles, framing, ratification, and implementation of constitutional government in the United States. This is an intense course of study and fellows are required to live on campus. Class attendance is mandatory, and six credit hours are awarded by Georgetown University for successful completion of the Institute. A feature of the Institute is the scheduling of trips to sites in and around Washington that are associated with the Constitution. The 2019 Summer Institute on the Constitution will run from June 15 to July 12, 2019. Fellows will receive round-trip international or domestic transportation to Washington, D.C., room, board, and a stipend of $2,500.
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation:
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation was established by the United States Congress in 1986 for the purpose of improving teaching about the United States Constitution in secondary schools. While funding for the Foundation’s general programs comes from Congress and generous contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations, the Cuban Fellowship program is not government funded. The James Madison Fellowships were created to honor Madison's legacy and Madisonian principles by providing support for graduate study that focuses on the United States Constitution -- its history and contemporary relevance to the practices and policies of democratic government.

Application Process:
Applicants must submit a cover letter in English indicating their qualifications, experience and interests specifically related to the selection criteria above. In addition, applicants must also submit a current curriculum vitae, also in English, with the names, addresses, fax number and email of three references, and a copy of their valid visa and passport, if required for entry into the U.S.
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is Friday, March 8, 2019.

Nominees will be notified of the outcome of the selection process by Monday, April 8, 2019
