The Giulio Regeni Memorial Fellowship provides support to an outstanding new or continuing graduate student who wishes to pursue full-time study in one of the graduate programs of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at AUC.
Eligibility:
- Full admission to one of the graduate programs in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Bachelor degree with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.
- For continuing students; to retain the fellowship, the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2 .
- Financial need.
Duration:
- The fellowship is awarded for one semester, subject to renewal for up to two years upon the recommendation of the department and/or school.
- It may be renewed for a second year with the approval of the school dean.
Award:
The fellowship covers:
- Tuition fees for a maximum of nine credits per semester
- Student services and activities fee
Responsibilities of Fellows:
- In support of their professional training, fellows are assigned 12 hours per week of related academic work
- A Teaching Assistantship mandatory training must be completed if the fellow is involved in teaching assistantship duties.
- The training needs to be completed only once
Eligibility of Teaching Assistants:
- Hold a bachelor or master degree in a field relevant to the course(s) he/she would be supporting.
- Have a GPA of at least 3.2 in the latest degree he/she holds.
- Be competent in the field of relevance to the course(s) he/she would be supporting.
- Have good English language skills and communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities of Teaching Assistants:
- Attend and observe classes of the course to which they are assigned.
- Take attendance in classes, labs and in presence of the course instructor.
- Run trials of the work to be carried out by students prior to the lab.
- Support students in carrying out experimental and creative work in labs.
- Assist in preparing answer keys for assignments, where applicable.
- Assist in grading the quantitative components of the course, weighted assessments such as assignments, quizzes, reports and exams.
- Assist in recording and calculating students’ grades.
- Assist in uploading course material onto online course management tools (e.g. Blackboard).
- Assist in preparing course material under the guidance of the course instructor.
- Conduct revision, review, and problem sessions which do not require the introduction of new materials to students.
- Lead in-class discussions and group activities which do not require the introduction of new materials to students.
- Assist in proctoring quizzes and exams, in the presence of the course instructor.
- Hold office hours.
