Deakin University in Australia offers its Ph.D. by research scholarship, the research theme will be non-thermal plasma technology to convert CO2 into the added value of fuel or chemicals.
Over past decades CO2 emissions have been rising, leading to worsening greenhouse gas effect, hence the need arises for new ideas to convert CO2 into 2 added value of chemicals, to be useful instead of its devastating effects. The traditional approaches in this field aren't that helpful since they require elevated temperature and rare earth metals as catalysts, and that raises the cost. So it's vital to explore novel energy-efficient technologies. Plasma technology is a new promising method in this aspect, with it we can dissociate CO2, and also enable thermodynamically difficult reactions to occur at ambient conditions of temperature and pressure with reasonable energy cost. The significance of this project is to exploit a new and exciting area in plasma technology for energy storage. The Ph.D. researcher will seek a non-thermal plasma system, and plasma-assisted catalysis to achieve the efficient conversion of CO2. And this is what the research aims at.
