Echoing Green organization announces that a grant of $4.6 million will be provided in an unrestricted seed-stage funding and strategic foundational support this year to emerging leaders working to bring about positive social change and invites all the innovators, instigators, pioneers, and social entrepreneurs all over the world to get Echoing Green’s fellowship and participate in solving the issues like economic development, education, health, environmental sustainability, hunger & poverty alleviation, justice & human rights and racial & gender equality.

Applicant Selection Criteria:

  • Purpose / Passion: The applicants must show that they care deeply about this issue or community and show the reason.
  • Resilience: The applicants should demonstrate that they have bounced back or had the capacity to do so, as well as the ability to foresee challenges. 
  • Leadership: The applicants must show that they can lead this organization toward its goals. What unique skills and experiences do they have that will help them succeed? 
  • Ability to Attract Resources: The applicants must show that they can attract money, people, and other resources to their cause.

Organization Selection Criteria:

  • Innovation: The applicants should explain how their approach is different from things that have been tried in the past. 
  • Importance: The applicants should explain the problem they want to solve and why it matters. On a global, regional, or local scale, why is this issue important? 
  • Potential for Big, Bold Impact: The applicants must show how their project will directly impact many lives or change a big system. 
  • A Good Business ModelIt should be clear and concise in relating the details of how the organization will run. The applicant doesn’t have to have solved everything but he/she should show how he/she is considering this thoughtfully and realistically.

Eligibility: 

In order to be eligible for an Echoing Green Fellowship, the applicant must be:

  • Over 18 years old
  • Fluent in English,
  • Able to commit a full 40 hour work week to their organization. 
  • The applicant should use the Echoing Green’s Eligibility Quiz to check his/her eligibility.

In order to be eligible for an Echoing Green Fellowship, the organization:

  • Must be the original idea of the applicant(s), 
  • Must be in its start-up phase (usually within the first two years of operation), 
  • Must be independent and autonomous.
  • Shouldn’t include students, scholarships, or research projects; lobbying or faith-based organizations; and existing organizations which have grown past their start-up phase.

Timeline:

  • From 9 to 30 October: Online application is open.
  • November: Applications screened, reviewed, and scored by internal Echoing Green team and 400 candidates will be accepted.
  • January: - Essays, budgets, and letters of reference evaluated 20 times or more by 800 expert volunteers and 80 finalists selected.
  • April: - Finalists are published online and promoted in our annual Social Impact Talent Report. Finalists are flown to New York for panel interviews, workshops, and networking events. Finalists receive individual feedback and consultation regardless of the outcome and then 30 fellows are chosen.
  • June: The 2019 Echoing Green Fellows are introduced to our partners, donors, and friends at our Big Bold Benefit in NYC, and kickoff their Fellowship at their New Fellows Retreat.
