Fulbright Egypt invites applications for the "Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA)" program. The program provides early career teachers of English as a foreign language, or of related fields such as American Studies, or English/American Literature, the opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and broaden their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States, while strengthening the instruction of foreign languages at colleges and universities in the United States. Assistants from Egypt help teaching of Arabic at select U.S. universities during their nine-month non-degree grant beginning in August/September 2021. The participants also interact with their host communities in conversation groups, extracurricular activities, and community outreach projects.
Fulbright Egypt is one of several United States Cultural Exchange programs whose goal is to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. It is one of the most competitive fellowship programs in the world, and it was founded by the senator J. William Fulbright in 1946 and is considered one of the most widely recognized scholarships, as it provides 8,000 grants annually.
