IRC offers a full time job opportunity in Yemen to work as IYCF counselor in Alazareq in health sector. You will be responsible of supporting Nutrition staff in the Outpatient Treatment Program (OTP) of nutrition program, a part of larger primary health care intervention that includes maternal health and child health and environmental health. 

Eligibility:

You must have:

  • Diploma in nursing, nutrition or medical assistant, with experience in nutrition programs.
  • Experience in IYCF projects, preferably in International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGO)/NGO.
  • Ability to work in an insecure environment.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Enthusiasm for nutrition, public health, and community development work.

Your Responsibilities:

You will be responsible of:

  1. Perform appropriate assessments of IYCF needs and malpractices and do analysis and come up with clear recommendations.
  2. Develop an action plan to improve the IYCF practice as per national guideline and give technical mentorship for the nutrition teams (Nutrition Assistant/Lady Health Visitor/Lady Health Worker/Community Resource Person).
  3. Build the capacity of outreach supervisor and community resource persons on the IYCF counselling techniques and ensure the appropriate techniques are applied all the time.
  4. Ensure formation of the mother support group at the community level in each village and community IYCF counselling conducted for the group members regularly.
  5. Identify model mothers and explore their best experience and replicate the best experience to improve IYCF practice within the community.
  6. Provide appropriate counselling for PLW, caretakers of OTP/SFP beneficiaries and mother groups on breastfeeding, complementary feeding and maternal and child nutrition.
  7. Identify/develop appropriate IEC materials and flashcards in local language and ensure that the materials are used during each counselling.
  8. Develop monthly and weekly plans towards the accomplishment of the work plan and monitor the plan accordingly.
  9. Document case studies regularly and shares with the team member and for nutrition officer.
  10. Produce weekly and monthly report regarding IYCF activities and submit to nutrition officer on time
