organization: United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction

The position is initially for a period of 364 days and is located in the UNDRR Headquarters in Geneva. The main function is to provide substantive support for the preparations and organization of the 7th session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, which will take place in May 2022. The incumbent reports to the Senior Coordination Officer in charge of the Global Platform.

Within delegated authority, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

Qualifications

Education

Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field. Additionally, the organization may accept a first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience in lieu of the advanced university degree. Also, advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in sustainable development, climate change, disaster risk reduction is desirable.

Work Experience

Languages

English or French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required and another UN official language is an advantage.
