Workshop for Beginning Historians and Early Career Researchers.

The Event

This two-day workshop brings together young researchers (PhD candidates, post-doctoral scholars) working in the intersecting fields of global and transnational history, network analysis and studies of violence. The programme will feature a mixture of papers by expert speakers and presentations from participants.

Contributors will briefly present on their research areas followed by focused discussions that aim to unearth common themes and connections between individual projects, theories, and frameworks. In preparation for the workshop, participants are expected to submit a short paper (2000 – 3000 words) addressing the workshop themes and to read selected articles to be provided by the organizers in the lead-up to the event.

The Venue and Organisers

The workshop is organized by the Centre for the History of Violence at the University of Newcastle (UON), Australia. The venue is the city campus, NeW Space, in the center of Newcastle city.

The organizers are Thomas Schmutz (University of Newcastle; University of Zurich); Michael Kilmister (University of Newcastle), Mikael Pierre (University of Newcastle; University of Bordeaux), Pearl Nunn (University of Newcastle) and Dr. Adrian Haenni (Distance Learning University Switzerland).
