Institution: Student Scholarships and Grants

Purpose: To assist spouses and children of police officers and firefighters who were killed in the line of duty.

Eligibility: Applicants must be the spouse or child of a deceased Michigan sheriff, deputy, village or township marshal, state, city, village or township officer or a fire department member who was responsible for extinguishing fires. The death must have been the direct result of an injury incurred in the line of duty. The applicant must be a Michigan resident whose family income is less than 400 percent of the federal poverty level, excluding death benefits from the deceased officer or firefighter. If the applicant is the child of the officer or firefighter, he must have been under the age of 21 at the time of death.
