Position Summary |
This recruitment will be used to fill part-time (up to 20 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant positions in the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University with the Blouin Lab. Michael Blouin’s lab studies a variety of topics in evolutionary genetics (http://people.oregonstate.edu/~blouinm/). They are looking for an assistant to help take care of lines of aquatic snails. These snails are used to study the genetics of resistance to infection by a trematode parasite (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schistosomiasis). The work would entail picking up lettuce and other supplies from the store, feeding the snails 3 times per week, and weekly cleaning of their tanks. As we follow strict protocols to prevent contamination of the lines, the person we hire must be very meticulous and detail oriented. The work would average 15-20 hours per week and starting wage is $12/hour. There is also potential opportunity to be involved in other aspects of our research. |
