The recently established group Decision Support for Health (DSH), at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology at Tampere University has the mission to improve decision making in various phases of healthcare (ranging from prevention and home-based settings to critical care) by developing and applying meaningful data-driven algorithms and tools. The background of the new team incorporates several decades of international experience in the field, working together with a network of top-level technical research partners, healthcare professionals and medical technology industry and service providers.
We are now expanding our team and are looking for a researcher who has finished her/his PhD and is eager to set up new research initiatives. Our research interests include: data-analytics approaches for robust, explainable and meaningful decision support in health (e.g., personalised risk assessment, diagnosis, stratification); combining data-driven- with modelling- and rule-based approaches; and advancements in standardization and health data access and utilisation.
Job description
The work involves research activities including research/project planning and proposal formulation, research work (data analysis and method development), scientific publishing and general dissemination in (inter)national multidisciplinary projects. Moreover, you are expected to participate in research group and project-wide academic service activities, participate to teaching and student supervision activities, and be active in funding acquisition. You will work with a group of highly experienced researchers in the field and have access to a valuable international co-operation network.

We offer
Duration of employment: Fixed-term position of two (2) years. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees.
Employment start date: Immediately or as soon as possible.
The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. The minimum starting salary will be approximately 3400 EUR/month.
Depending on the projects and preferences, the location of work can be at Seinäjoki campus or at Tampere (Hervanta or Kauppi campus).
