Rattle Magazine invites poetry lovers all over the world to participate in its annual competition. With the winners judged in an anonymous review by the editors to ensure a fair and consistent selection. This competition is considered one of the most inspiring poetry competitions for poets around the world. In 2019 we published 23 poems that had been submitted to the contest from just over 3,000 entries.
Note: The entry fee is a one-year subscription to Rattle (or a one-year extension for subscribers) at our regular $25 rate. Entry fees are non-refundable.
The Rattle is a magazine specialized in publishing English poetry. Rattle’s mission is to promote the practice of poetry, as it is published in several forms, in effort to find as many readers as possible, but the primary version has been its print issue, originally twice per year, but now appearing quarterly in March, June, September, and December. Each issue is roughly 100 pages of poetry and an interview with a contemporary poet. Most issues have a tribute section, focusing on a specific stylistic, ethnic, or vocational group. Recent tributes have focused on sonnets, African American poets, cowboy poets, visual poetry, and nurses. More than anything, Rattle’s goal is to promote a community of active poets.
